Abstract
937,197. Blowing-moulding machines. OWENS-ILLINOIS GLASS CO. Oct. 6, 1959 [Jan. 8, 1959; Jan. 28, 1959; Jan. 30, 1959], No. 17920/63. Divided out of 937,195. Class 87(2). In a blow-moulding machine, mould halves 45 are moved towards each other, but not closed, to bring members 35, 36 into engagement with an extruded tube 30, a knife 37 severs the gripped length of tube, and immediately after severing, the mould is lowered. During this movement, the tube recovers from stresses imposed on it. A blowing head is then inserted into the bottom of the tube, the mould closed, and the tube blown into the shape of the mould. In a modification, Fig. 5, the extrusion head 40 is provided with a vertically reciprocable blowing head 83. Specification 937,196 is referred to.
