936,956. Mixing flowing liquids in preparations. R. S. GARWOD, and E. DEWEY. June 20, 1961 [May 20, 1960], No. 17892/60. Class 86. A device for mixing and controlling the concentration of liquids in flow comprises a valve, spring-pressed towards closed position, in the passage between the inlet and outlet of the device but opened by the pressure of liquid to permit a predetermined amount of liquid to pass, the pressure drop being utilized to cause a liquid concentrate to be drawn into the main stream. The body 10 of the device has a through passage 19 connected at one end 25 to a water mains inlet and at the other end 59 to an outlet. A tube 15 of rigid transparent material is releasably connected to the main body 10 and encloses a bag 38 of flexible waterproof material which opens into the passage 19 through a valve-controlled opening 36, the pressure to maintain the valve closed being variable by rotation of a knob 42a carrying a pointer 44 moving over a scale. In use, water from the mains passes through openings 33, 34, 35 into the tube 15 and compresses the bag 38 to discharge concentrated liquid through the opening 36, the amount depending on the setting of the knob 42a.
