936,863. Folding and sliding doors. C. GIORDANI. Jan. 20, 1961 [Jan. 22, 1960], No. 2420/61. Class 20 (3). A folding sliding door or partition comprises an upper and lower linkage formed by a number of hinged assemblies each including an S-shaped member 2 hinged at its ends to members 3 and 4 and at its centre 6 to a member 4 of an adjacent assembly, a number of vertical panels 1 each secured on one side to corresponding members 3 of the upper and lower linkages and on its other side to corresponding members 4 of each linkage, and covered on one or each face by flexible material 17 glued to vertical strips 18 attached to the panels and to vertical strips 18<SP>1</SP> extending between corresponding upper and lower S-shaped members 2. The pivot pins of alternate hinges 6 of the upper linkage are extended 5 and secured in wheeled carriages 8 which run in an inverted U-shaped guide extending over the top of the door or partition opening. The leading edge of the arrangement comprises a metal channel member 13 suspended from a carriage which runs in the guide rail and a member 19 of wood or rubber with a tongue which engages, when the door is closed, in a grooved member (not shown) secured to the side of the opening.
