Abstract

936,338. Percussive tools. J. C. BAMFORD (EXCAVATORS) Ltd. June 12, 1961 [June 9, 1960], No. 20235/60. Class 124. In hydraulic apparatus comprising a transmitter (not shown) imparting pulses to a column of fluid in a pipe 22 connected to a receiver 10 actuated by the pulses, the receiver is mounted on a percussive tool 14, has a reciprocable resiliently biased plunger 11 which can act on the working tool 18, and is slidable relative to the tool 14 so that it can be withdrawn to a position where the plunger does not actuate the tool 18. The receiver is slidable on studs 15 and biased by springs 16 so that the plunger does not engage the tool 18 until pressure applied to handles 20 overcomes the springs and permits the plunger to engage and actuate the tool 18.
