[Also in Group I] In a juice extractor of the type in which fruit or vegetables are pushed down a filling tube 43 and pressed against and torn to pulp by a rotated grating disc 42, whereupon the pulp is flung centrifugally against a rotating cylindrical or conical screen 41 through which the juice alone passes, the centrifugal screen is cleared of residual pulp, either continuously or intermittently, by means of one or more inclined vanes 46, 47, 48 whose working edges 46a, 47a, 48a are approximately helical and are brought successively or simultaneously to about 0.5 mm from the screen wall by being spaced circumferentially around, or vertically aligned on, a shaft 45, turned against a return spring 51 by a hand-lever 50. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4 the centrifugal screen 71 is conical and the vanes 76, 77, 78 are mounted on a hollow shaft or pipe 74 rotated by a hand lever 75 latchable in either of two end positions of a slot 73a (Fig. 6, not shown) in a guide sleeve 73. The hollow pipe 74 serves also as a filling tube for fruit to be pressed against the grating disc 72. In further embodiments the vanes are brought into a pulpclearing position by radially sliding or by tilting the shaft to which they are attached. In all cases the pulp is finally ejected through an aperture or exit pipe in the centrifuge cover.
