Abstract

936,303. Control of D.C. motors. GLOBE INDUSTRIES Inc. Jan. 7, 1960, No. 668/60. Class 38 (3). A D.C. motor is braked by short-circuiting its armature through a transistor. As shown, current passes through diode 58, armature 3, and transistor 30 when switch 60 engages terminal 1, transistor 50 being non-conductive due to the bias voltage developed across diode 58. When the switch 60 is adjusted to its central position, the motor regenerates and braking-current is passed through transistor 50 and diode 48. Engagement of the switch 60 with terminal 11 causes current to flow through diode 38 to start the motor in the opposite direction.
