935,878. Releasable fastenings. FLEXIGRIP Ltd. (Flexigrip Inc.). Nov. 6, 1961, No. 39660/61. Class 44. A fastener comprises a pair of flexible components made of resilient material consisting of flexible strips 11, 11<SP>1</SP> integral with locking portions 12, 12<SP>1</SP> of which, when seen in crosssection one locking portion 12<SP>1</SP> has a pair of oppositely directed hooks 14<SP>1</SP> joined at their bases but separated by a wedge-shaped groove 16<SP>1</SP> while the other locking portion 12 has a corresponding pair of hook-shaped grooves 17<SP>1</SP> separated by a wedge-shaped tongue 16, the hooks being sufficiently narrow-necked to allow the presence of the tongue in the corresponding groove to spread them apart and press them into their respective grooves 17<SP>1</SP> on assembly of the components together. In one form, Fig. 1, each portion is at an edge of its strip 11, 11<SP>1</SP> and the hooks and grooves are arranged so that the two locking components overlap when in engagement. In a second form one hook extends from each surface of the strip and the grooves are correspondingly arranged in relation to the other strip so that the tongue 16 and groove 16<SP>1</SP> are in the common median plane of the two strips, when the components are in engagement.
