Abstract

933,347. Ceiling shuttering or papering apparatus. N. B. MARTIN. Feb. 18, 1960 [Feb. 27, 1959], No. 5858/60. Class 20 (2). [Also in Group XXX] A hoist for elevating a ceiling board or plaster to a ceiling comprises a platform 13 which is formed by rods 13a, 13b having sliding extensions 13d and hinged extensions 13c, respectively, supported on a wheeled frame 1 by telescopic rods 7, 11, and 7a, 11a and is raised relative to the frame 1 by an hydraulic (or manually-operated) ram 23 and linkages 33, 36, 28 and 29, 32. The platform 13 is mounted on the rods 11, 11a by sockets 14, 14a and can be swung about a horizontal axis and held in any required position, by notched quadrants 15, 15a and pins 17, to position a ceiling board. Hook rods 20 are provided to support the board when it is loaded on to the platform in a vertical position. Holes 19 can be provided in the rods 7, 11, 7a, 11a for engagement by pins. Foldable stand rails 37, 37a with hinged extensions 37b for an operator are provided at opposite sides of the frame 1. The frame 1 is mounted on four castor wheels 3, 3a, 3b, 3c, the wheels 3b, 3c being located at the ends of legs 6, 6a which are slidably disposed in sockets 4, 4a, swingable about a vertical axis on the frame 1 so that the hoist can be made narrow enough to be manoeuvred through doorways.
