933,260. Grass cutters. R. H. PERCY, and J. W. L. SCHOLEY. May 18, 1962 [April 21, 1961], No. 14497/61. Class 6(3). [Also in Group XXXI] A self-propelled grass cutting machine is characterised by a power unit 8 mounted on a frame for driving a pair of wheels 11 which are turnable through 360 degrees about a vertical axis for steering the machine. Two rotary cutters 9 are mounted, together with the power unit 8 which drives them, on a subframe 7 which is vertically adjustable relative to the main frame 6 by means of screws 41 which have threaded on them toothed wheels which are turnable by a crank 40 and which support the subframe 7. The rotary cutters are driven from a pulley 38 connected to the power unit through a clutch operable by pedal 47 and the wheels 11 are driven from a pulley 17 via a tensioning device 20, pulley 16, drive shaft 14 and gear box 15. The tensioning device is carried by a pivoted arm 21 which is movable through a linkage by operating foot pedal 26 to engage or release the drive. A steering wheel 13 is connected with a tubular shaft 27 via a chain 31 for turning the wheels 11.
