Abstract

932,070. Aircraft landing lamps. M. C. HARLEY. March 27, 1962 [March 27, 1961], No. 11120/61. Class 75 (3). A lamp of the type having a support hinged to a mounting in a space in the wing or fuselage of an aircraft and in which mechanism is provided for moving the lamp into and out of operative position and embodies limit switches determining the operative and inoperative positions of the lamp, means are provided for adjusting the position of the lamp at which the actuating mechanism is arrested during outward movement of the lamp, the means being disposed within a lamp housing support so as to be freely accessible from below. In the form shown, the lamp and reflector are carried in a casing c pivoted at e to a housing a in the wing or fuselage and moved by an arm f pivoted to the rod g of an electric actuator (not shown). The arm f carries a pin h engaging a plate i on a plunger consisting of a screw-threaded sleeve j and a threaded rod k carrying a plate t at the opposite end, which actuates the plunger r of a micro-switch s after the lamp has moved a distance determined by the extent to which the rod k is screwed into the sleeve j, this adjustment being indicated by a pointer o on the sleeve j moving over a fixed scale p. A spring m on the rod k keeps the head i of the plunger in contact with the pin h.
