Abstract

929981 Curtain walling E G ECKARDT 3 Nov 1959 [4 Nov 1958] 37237/59 Class 20 (3) A wall structure comprises a plurality of U- sectioned structural elements 17, e.g. of glass disposed side-by-side with adjacent flanges 19 parallel and spaced apart, each element 17 having, adherent on to the edge of each of its flanges and sealing the space between adjacent flanges 19, a sealing strip of U-section 10, Fig.11, or of W- or S-section 30. The arrangement shown in Fig.11 is for the formation of a cavity wall. Fig.4 shows an arrangement using an S-section strip 20. The strip 10 may have air cushions and the strip 30 has a bead extending longitudinally about midway along the outer limbs on the other sides thereof and the centre limb has a terminating bead and arrow head protrusions on each side. The space between the elements 17 is sealed by a sealing strip 40 having an arrow head and protrusions on each side. An alternative form of strip 40 is ofH- section or as described in Specification 929982. The lower and upper edges of the elements 17 may be protected by U-shaped edging strips. The structure may be secured to an upright 90, Fig.17 by means of a T-section anchor member 91 the shank 93 of which is accommodated between two members 17 in a gap formed in the strip 30 &c. and with the cross-bar 92 abutting the panels 18 of the elements 17 and the shank 93 being bifurcated at its end and the limbs 94 being reinforced by angle plates 95 and bolted to an eye bolt 97.
