928,888. Haymaking machines. H. A. HUEBNER, and R. M. WORREL. Feb. 15, 1960, No. 5326/60. Class 6(3). [Also in Group XXXII] A swath turner which is mounted on vertically adjustable castor wheels 5 and is attached by a hitch to a tractor (see also Group XXXII) comprises two triangular frames hinged together at 8a and wheels 20 provided with slidable tines 3 which move in and out. The rake wheel hubs 1 are loosely mounted on shafts 4 fixed to the frames and are keyed into pedestals 7 mounting the wheels 5, Figs. 5, 5a. The forks 5a in which the castor wheels are journalled may be locked in raisec or lowered positions by catches 6c each engaging one of two shoulders 21, 22 on the respective shafts 6 which are vertically slidable in the pedestals. The turner frame may however be lowered to its fullest extent by disengaging the catches 6c entirely and allowing the forks 5c to thrust against the pedestals. The hingeing of the frame allows the rake wheels to engage the ground at the required depth without requiring separate pedestals and castor wheels for each rake wheel. The rake tines are slidably mounted in double rims 2 and move radially inwardly and outwardly from the hub but revolve and droop out of radial alignment as they rise on the wheel, see Fig. 3. The hitch arrangement allows the tractor driver to alter the relative position of the turner to the tractor whilst towing.
