Abstract
A catalyst comprises 5-40 wt. per cent (Ni + W), 2-23% S and 0,4-6% halogen (F or Cl) supported on a carrier material of minimum cracking activity equivalent to 14,1% on the Kellogg scale (described in the Specification), the W:Ni atomic ratio being between 1:0,1 and 1:5. Suitable carriers are silica-alumina and silica-magnesia, but calcium aluminosilicate is unsuitable and excluded from the claims.
