Abstract

927,499. Spectacle frames. F. O. WHEWAY. June 21, 1961 [July 30, 1960], No. 26619/60. Class 97 (1). A spectacle frame having a bridge portion brow bars and lens retaining means so assembled that there is a gap between the brow bars and the associated lenses, comprises a lens engaging member resiliently connected to the bridge portion and engaging at least that part of the periphery of the lens disposed on the opposite side of the lens to the associated brow bar. As shown, a bridge portion 10 has brow bars 11 and a wire lens engaging member 15 which is of U-form and which is connected to the bridge portion. That portion of the lens adjacent the brow bar may be held in position by a thread, e.g. of nylon. The wire lens engaging member may be extended to engage the brow bar and be fixed thereto by rivets.
