927,032. Packing units. FILM COOLING TOWERS (1925) Ltd., and E. A. A. HOWE. Feb. 17, 1961 [Feb. 17, 1960], No. 5665/60. Class 55 (2). The plates 3 of a packing unit for a cooling tower are held spaced apart by slotted strips 4 made of a flexible plastics material. The strips 4 may be arranged at the upper and lower edges of the packing units, as shown in Fig. 1, or as shown in Fig. 6 only at the upper edges, the lower edges of the sheets in this case engaging in notched beams 2 in the cooling tower. Large packing units may have a number of overlapping strips 4 as shown in Fig. 5. The plastics material may be a mixture of natural rubber, fibrous fillers and a synthetic rubber, e.g. oil-resistant neoprene. Strips of polyethylene, polystyrene or polyvinyl chloride may also be used. Specification 806,884 is referred to.
