Abstract

926,272. Extrusion machines. J. GARVEY. Sept. 1, 1959, No. 29864/59. Class 87(2). To facilitate easy cleaning an extrusion nozzle 5 having a decreasing cross section from its entry end, where it forms a pressure tight joint with a cylinder 2, to its exit end consists of at least two longitudinally divided segments 6, 7, hingedly connected to the cylinder 2, with removable fastening means 24 to maintain the segments 6, 7 in operative engagement. The means 24 may be a threaded boss bearing on frusto-conical surfaces 34, removal of the boss and running of the machine causing the segments to open on their hinges 16, 17. A die may be attached to the end 33 of the segments, a filter plate may fit into grooves 30 in the segments and the segments may be heated by a heater 27 and heating or cooling channels 28, 29 are provided.
