Abstract

The invention comprises sparingly soluble quaternary ammonium salts of the general formula <FORM:0922321/IV(a)/1> (wherein R1 represents a hydrogen, chlorine or bromine atom or a methyl or nitro group, R2 a hydrogen, chlorine or bromine atom or a methyl group, and A- an anion equivalent of borofluoric or perchloric acid), the prepartion thereof by reacting in aqueous solution a water-soluble salt of the cation with a water-soluble borofluoride or perchlorate, and pharmaceutical compositions containing the products and an acceptable carrier therefor. The pharmaceutical compositions, which are active against parasitic nematodes, may take the form of powders, granules, draughts, drenches, syrups, capsules, cachets, tablets, suspensions, suppositories or pessaries.
