A suspension filing device for suspending gramophone record envelopes, folders, or the like from a single supporting rail is provided with a recess open at the top, which is shaped to form one or two noses to engage the supporting rail, and one or two tongues extending horizontally, which in use, pass through apertures in the envelope or folder adjacent its upper edge, whereby the upper edge of the envelope or folder is supported on the upper edge or edges of the tongue or tongues. The filing device 1 is recessed at 3 to provide two opposed noses and has a single tongue 16 provided with a sheet metal extension 18 at its lower edge, which, in use, is inserted through a slit or circular aperture in one cover of a folder or envelope to lie between the covers thereof and the extension 18 pushed through a second slit and bent back on itself to secure the filing device in position. Alternatively, the device is provided with two tongues 4, 4<SP>1</SP> extending in the same or opposite directions, at least one of which is flexible to facilitate engagement with slits 11, 11<SP>1</SP> adjacent the upper edge of a folder or envelope. The tongue 4<SP>1</SP> may be bent back on itself adjacent the plate 1 to extend in a direction parallel to the tongue 4 and a small tongue provided at said bend extending in the opposite direction to the tongues 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 22 (not shown). The tongues have recesses 42 at their upper or lower edges, Fig. 14, to prevent tearing of the apertures. The thickness of the plate 1 is reduced at the lower edge 6 and the tongues cranked along lines 40, 40<SP>1</SP> to accommodate the portion of the folder or envelope between the slits 11, 11<SP>1</SP>. Similarly the plate may be reduced in thickness where it joins the tongue 16, Fig. 5. In another arrangement, the device is recessed to provide one nose only and the device suspended from a rail which is L-shaped in cross-section. Fig. 3 (not shown). The gramophone-record envelope is open along the edge 22 and a record maintained therein by a press-stud fastener joining the two covers at the lower corner thereof or by cutting the envelope at 29 whereby the lower edge 24 of the record projects therethrough. The envelope may be closed on all four sides and one cover slitted along a line parallel to and spaced from one side edge. Alternatively the envelope is shaped so that the lower edge is inclined downwards from the open side, or the lower edge inclined by arranging the tongues 4, 4<SP>1</SP> at an angle to the opposed supporting noses 46.
