Abstract

920,727. Spinning glass yarns. PITTSBURGH PLATE GLASS CO. Aug. 1, 1961 [Aug. 10, 1960], No. 27830/61. Class 120 (2). In spinning yarns of continuous glass filaments into a package with a cylindrical body and a conical top on a bobbin 29 having a flange 42 at its base, to prevent the yarns from "sloughing-off " and from building up into a " hump " in the region of the flange, the ring 48 reciprocates relatively to the spindle 24 and is arranged at a small angle to the perpendicular to the axis of the spindle, so that successive turns of yarn wound on the bobbin cross over the preceding turns and the build-up at the base of the package is avoided. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 800,555.
