920,492. Fluid-pressure brakes. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. July 2, 1959 [July 9, 1958; Oct. 29, 1958], No. 21966/58. Class 103 (1). In a vehicle anti-skid system, in which wheel brakes, such as disc brakes 6, are operated by hydraulic pressure from a master cylinder 2 boosted by a vacuum servo-mechanism 11, an inertia unit, not shown in the Figures, is arranged to govern the operation of the brakes by varying the pressure in the servomechanism. Fig. 5 shows an embodiment in which the rod 13 is actuated by the inertia unit and operates a double valve 14. Deceleration causes a movement of the rod 13 to the left to lift valve 46 and admit atmosphere through port 16, space 45 and pipe 15 connected to the servo-mechanism and at the same time closes valve 47 to cut-off pipe 15 from pipe 9 which leads to the vacuum reservoir.
