Abstract
920,346. Bearings. CRAMIC ENGINEERING CO. Ltd., and D. J. WILLSON. June 19, 1961 [July 25, 1960], No. 25841/60. Class 12 (1). In a bearing mounting a sleeve 1 is alignable in a housing 4. The sleeve has diametricallyopposed recesses 2, 3 therein and the housing 4 has a bearing-locating member 6 attached thereto. A ball 13 is positioned between the recess 2 of the sleeve 1 and a spring 11 located in a recess 15 of the housing, and a ball 14 is engaged by the recess 3 of the sleeve and by a recess 12 in the member 6. The recess 2 is elongated to facilitate axial alignment and the member 6 is clamped to the housing by bolts 8 having nuts 9 thereon, the tightening of which compress the spring 11. Thus the sleeve is held and can be adjusted without untightening the nuts 9. In a modification as shown in Fig. 4, the member 6 is attached to, or is integral with, the housing 4 which is broken and is bridged by a bearing-locating member 19. Bolts 19a having nuts 19b thereon, serve to clamp the member 19 to the housing 4 and to compress the spring 11 and thus hold the sleeve in a readily-adjustable position.
