Abstract
917,019. Pressure exchangers. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT) Ltd. Aug. 29, 1961 [Oct. 7, 1960], No. 34514/60. Class 8(1). In a pressure exchanger having a cell rotor (not shown) driven by a variable speed I.C. engine and supplied with high pressure exhaust gas from the engine through a duct 21 and which gas at a lower pressure is discharged from the exchanger through a duct 22, ducts 21, 22 are connected by a bleed opening 41 in the wall of a duct 42 branching from said duct 21 and controlled by a valve 40 connected by a stem 39 to a spring-biased piston 28 slidable in a bore 26 and subjected to the pressure of the incoming gas leakage past the piston is vented through apertures 34, 35 to the duct 22.
