Abstract

916,617. Fuel injection pumps. C.A.V. Ltd. March 10, 1961 [Jan. 12, 1960], No. 1047/60. Class 102(1). In a fuel injection pump and rotary distribut- or comprising radiant pistons 7 movable outwardly by fuel pressure from a feed pump and inwardly by a cam ring 9 acting through rollers 8, means for varying the stroke of the pistons comprises at least one additional cam ring 15 which limits the outward movement of the pistons and is rotatable by means operable from externally of the pump to vary the pump output. In the embodiment shown, two similar cam rings 15, in angular alignment, are rotated by a screw 19 and nut 18 mounted externally of the pump housing and acting through pin and slot connections 16, 17. The cam rings may be angularly adjusted manually or by hydraulic means.
