Abstract

An accelerator of rubber vulcanization having the property of adhering the rubber mix in which it is incorporated to ferrous metal during vulcanizing of the mix is a mercaptobenzothiazole complex: <FORM:0914787/IV(a)/1> 0,5-6 parts of the complex per 100 parts of rubber may be employed. The rubbers are exemplified by natural rubber (smoked sheet) and SBR. Adhesion of the vulcanized rubber to the metal is reinforced by incorporating in the mix a metal oxide which releases oxygen during the vulcanization, e.g. by incorporating 0,05-1 part of lead dioxide per 100 parts of rubber, or by incorporating in the mix rosin in amounts of more than 1 part per 100 parts of rubber.
