914,684. Pipe couplings. MULLER, R. H., NEWELL, C. E., and FRANKLIN & SONS Ltd., J. G. April 13, 1959 [Jan. 13, 1958], No. 1196/58. Class 99(1). A tubular coupling component B for breathing apparatus and of a rubber, plastic or other elastomeric material adapted to be sterilized in boiling water has at least one externally tapering or rounded-end spigot 13 adapted to be forced axially into a co-operating female component A to make sealed engagement therewith, the spigot being formed of increased hardness in relation to the remaining elastomeric material. The component B, preferably moulded, may be of T or elbow form and include socket parts, the component A being provided with annular ribs 5 adapted to be forced through the end of and into the corrugations 6 of a flexible tube 1. Annular shoulders 15, 16 limit insertion of a spigot.
