914,265. Heating and cooling liquids in bulk; heat-exchange elements; feed waterheating systems. BILLINGTON, J. H. May 2, 1961 [Feb. 6, 1960], No. 4280/60. Classes 64 (1) and 64 (3). Heating or cooling coils 12 are mounted in the interspace between two tubular members 13, 14, the assembly being substantially of the shape of a Venturi, as shown. As shown in Fig. 1, the assembly is suspended or supported in a liquid, e.g. a beer, heating or cooling tank 11, its shape promoting circulation of the liquid. A plurality of side-by-side or concentric assemblies may be provided. A propeller may be located in the throat of the assembly to increase circulation. The assembly may act as an economizer in the flue of a Lancashire or Cochrane boiler, its axis being horizontal or vertical. It may also constitute a furnace flue.
