Abstract
996,014. Automatic circuit-breakers. COMPAGNIE CONTINENTALE DES COMPTEURS. Jan. 31, 1962 [April 15, 1961; July 12, 1961], No. 3698/62. Heading H2B. In an electric circuit-breaker having a rockable member which holds the contacts closed when retained by two latches, release is effected by movement of the armature of an electromagnet and means is provided for mechanically adjusting the unattracted position of the armature. As shown, a push-button 1 is biased by a spring 3 to project from a housing 2 and has a pin 5 guided in a slot in the housing. A rocker 7 is pivoted on the pin 5 and has a projection 16 which engages a movable contact member 56 which is biased away from fixed contacts 65, 67 by a spring 19. When the button is pressed the rocker 7 is moved to close the contacts and is held by a spring- biased pawl 8 and a latch 55 which is engaged by the end 7a of the rocker. On overload an electromagnet 53, which is in series with the contacts, attracts its spring-biased armature 54 so that an insulated armature extension 54e strikes the latch 55 to move it anti-clockwise against the bias of a spring 63 so as to release the rocker end 7a. The rocker then moves to allow the contacts to open and disengage the pawl 8 to move to the inoperative position. The unattracted position of the armature 54 is set by a stop 60 on a screw 61 and the latch 55 may be tripped by a push-button 64 engaging in a slot 55c. The arrangement of the contacts and magnetic blow-out coils is as described in the divided Specification 996,015.
