Abstract
913,651. Miteririg. GALE, W. E. May 15, 1959 [Feb. 19, 1958], No. 5446/58. Class 145. A device enabling workpieces, particularly wooden workpieces, to be sawn at any desired simple or compound angle comprises a cradle 4 mounted for pivotal movement in horizontal and vertical axes on a base in the form of a graduated quadrant and having a tenon or tenons 12 engaging a slot 3 in the saw table 1. The cradle is pivotable about a vertical pivot 16 and about horizontal spindles 9, 10 and is locked in adjusted position by a nut 13 which clamps the member 6 against the curved edge of the quadrant. The spindle 9 is preferably extended to accommodate a spring 11 or other resilient means between the boss 7 and the nut 18. Rollers may be provided on the base to bear on the upper surface of the saw table and, if the slot 3 extends right through the table, rollers may also be provided to bear on the undersurface and prevent lifting or tipping.
