Abstract

913,303. Vehicle power steering. CAM GEARS Ltd. March 31, 1959 [April 21, 1958], No. 12573/58. Class 79(5). A cam and follower gear in which the cam 1 or an extension thereof is disposed coaxially within the cylinder 8 of a ram and cylinder, power unit has the ram 9 of the unit connected to the follower 7 by a connection which permits axial movement of the ram simultaneously with angular movement of the follower about the axis of the rocker shaft 5. The connection consists of a socket 11 in an extension 10 of the ram to engage a part-spherical surface 12 on the follower. Bearings 3 permit the cam to have a small axial movement to operate a control valve 14 as described in Specification 873,093.
