Abstract
912,102. Cooling systems for electronic valve apparatus. COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd. Feb. 15, 1961, No. 5656/61. Class 64 (3). Electronic valve apparatus 17 is cooled by a liquid circulated in a closed system including a water storage tank 10 having a pipe 28 for discharging water to waste under the control of a thermal switch 36 sensitive to the temperature of the tank water and regulating the flow of such water to waste, and means for replenishing the tank from a cold water supply. In the system shown, the circulating coolant is oil which is cooled in passing through a heatexchanger 60 in the tank 10. A resulting rise in the temperature of the tank water above a predetermined value is sensed by the element 36 which then opens the waste pipe valve 21 allowing water to discharge through pipe 28. The consequent fall in the water level A operates a switch 33 which opens a cold water inlet valve 12 until the level is restored. In a further form described (Fig. 1, not shown), the circulating liquid is water and the storage tank 10 is connected directly into the cooling system, the heat-exchanger 60 and make-up tank 61 then being omitted. The system may also incorporate an air-cooled cooler 30.
