A support bar for mines having a hearing eye 3 at one end and a pivot pin 5 at the other end whereby it may be pivoted to a like bar by pushing the bearing eye from the side into the pivot pin of the other bar is characterized in that said bar is provided with a worm gear segment 7 at one end and a rotatable worm 8 at the other end to permit angular adjustment of one bar relative to another, interengagement of the teeth being effected by a cross member 6 having a cam surface 6<SP>1</SP>. The worm 8 is provided with hexagonal holes 9 for co-operation with a wrench and the bearing eye 3 constitutes an elongated hole defining together with a slot in the pin 5 guide means for said member 6.
