910,525. Venting containers. PATTON, F.S. Feb. 27, 1959 [Nov. 28, 1958], No. 6999/59. Class 125(3). A closure for relieving excessive pressure in a container comprises a screw cap 13 inside which is a resilient seal 17 having grooves 20 which are compressed between the cap and the container to form a seal but which are reopened by an excessive pressure inside the container, The seal is either a disc or a ring and has parallel grooves formed on the side facing the container which are spaced either equally or closer together towards the centre of the seal or extend over only a part of the seal.
