Abstract

910,466. Spanners. BROWN, G. D. Sept. 9, 1959 [Sept. 9, 1958], No. 28879/58. Class 61. A spanner comprises two separate jaw pieces 1, 2, articulated at spaced points 4, 6 on a handle-bar, the jaw 1 being formed with a guide 3 in which an extension 2a of the jaw 2 is slidable in a path at an angle to the gripping faces. The jaw pieces are so shaped that their nut-engaging faces are parallel and maintain their parallel relationship when one jaw slides on the other to increase or decrease their separation. The pivot 4 is fixed in relation to the handle, the pivot 6 being a pin-and-slot conneetion. The jaws are biased towards one another by a spring 7 anchored at one end to the handle and at the other end to the jaw piece 1.
