Abstract

909,917. Thermionic valves. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 30, 1958 [Dec. 31, 1957], No. 42061/58. Class 39 (1). In a discharge tube for amplifying electrical oscillations, the anode 4 includes two halves, each having a re-entrant part 3 facing, and having the same width as, the cathode 1. Screens 5, the free edges of which extend short of, and lie in the same plane as, the active anode parts, are provided between the grid 2 and anode 4 so that the anode to grid capacity is determined only by the active parts thereof. The screens 5 may be grounded or at a positive potential so that distribution noise may be negligible. As shown, the grid is a frame grid and the anode has extensions which act as cooling fins.
