Abstract

817,068. Thermionic valves. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 13, 1957 [Sept. 17, 1956], No. 28900/57. Class 39(1). A discharge tube has an electrode-centring mica 2, the cathode 8 being centred by an additional member 5 having two narrow strips 12, 13 defining an elongated rectangular slot 6 ; this slot is wider than the grid supports, but narrower than the cathode (as for example by about 50Á), so that the latter is wedged firmly therein. The strips 12, 13 are very thin, e.g. 100-150Á, so that the heat conducted from the cathode is small, and can be made even smaller by providing recesses 11. Member 5 is positioned and secured by grid rods 4 and tags 8 on the anode.
