Abstract

909,789. Windscreen wipers. EDWARDS, C. Aug. 23, 1961 [Aug. 27, 1960], No. 29627/60. Class 138 (1). A substitute windscreen wiper unit, for use in the event of failure of a built-in wiper mechanism having two spaced wiper spindles, comprises a casing 10 enclosing an electric motor (not shown) for oscillating a wiper arm 18 and carried by telescopic members 14, 20 urged apart by a spring (not shown) so that the forked ends 15, 22 thereof engage the spindles 16, 21 of the built-in wiper mechanism. Alternatively the members 14, 20 may be urged together by a tension spring and have hooked ends for engaging the spindles 16, 21.
