Abstract

909,736. Suspended ceilings. HOGMAN, O. O. March 21, 1961 [April 29, 1960], No. 10165/61. Class 20 (4). Plate-shaped elements 11 of suspended ceilings rest with their edge portions upon sealing strips 15 on the upper sides of the supporting flanges 2 of supporting beams 1 suspended below an ordinary ceiling. As described, the ceiling is intended for a room containing cellulose producing machinery, and the flanges 2 are protected against moist acid-containing air within the room by a covering which as described consists of a profile member 3 of alumunium or plastic pushed over the flanges 2 from one end of the beam 1. The sealing strips 10 and elements 11 are supported upon projecting edge portions 5, 6 of the members 3. The longitudinal edges of the elements 11 are reinforced by bent-up channel formations formed therealong and adjacent elements are connected by rivets 14 passing through the webs of the channels. Adhesive metal foil sealing strip 16 is applied across the upper faces of the channels on adjacent elements 11. To allow for expansion, the beams 1 are made in slightly spaced-apart sections which are bridged by the members 3. Sliding expansion joints, Fig. 4 (not shown), are provided between certain elements 11.
