909,585. Mould and core materials. FOUNDRY SERVICES INTERNATIONAL Ltd. Dec. 21, 1960 [Dec. 31, 1959], No. 44458/59. Class 83 (1). A mould with an inner lining of a porous heat-insulating, combustible or exothermic composition is faced by filling the mould with a slurry of a finely-divided non-carbonaceous refractory material, allowing the filled mould to stand and then removing the residual slurry from the mould. The slurry may include zircon flour, dextrin or linseed oil as a binder and bentonite sulphite lye or sodium alginate as a suspending agent. The slurry may be selfsetting or it may be set, as by the application of CO 2 gas to a slurry containing sodium silicate. Specification 875,569 is referred to.
