Abstract
A refractory paint capable of setting in air to give a hard surface comprises zircon flour, i.e. finely divided zirconium silicate sand, carried by a supporting gel. The vehicle may be linseed oil and may be gelled by including bentonite, alginates, ethyl cellulose, cellulose acetate, or aluminium stearate. The paint may be used for coating sand moulds and cores for casting metals.ALSO:A refractory paint capable of setting in air to give a hard surface comprises zircon flour, i.e. finely divided zirconium silicate sand, carried by a supporting gel. The vehicle may be an alkyd resin solution and may be gelled by including bentonite, alginates, ethyl cellulose, cellulose acetate, or aluminium stearate. The paint may be used for coating sand moulds and cores for casting metals.
