Abstract
A high temperature alloy consists of 5-15% of Ti, Mo, Ta, V, Cr or Zr and the balance Nb. The alloy may be used for the blades of a gas turbine. A fuel material for a nuclear reactor is produced by incorporating a fissionable material, e.g. UO2, in such a binary alloy containing Ti. The material may be made by mixing the powdered alloy or alloy components with powdered UO2 and pressing and sintering, e.g. at 2600-3100 DEG F.
