Abstract
906,961. Plating grid wire of thermionic valves. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 21, 1961 [July 26, 1960], No. 26522/61. Drawings to Specification. Class 41. Molybdenum grid wire of thermionic valves is coated with platinum electrolytically, with a barrier pre-coat of nickel, iron, or cobalt, and then heating at 1200 to 1500 C. to interdiffuse the platinum coating. The pre-coating may be formed by electro-deposition, or by coating with the metal oxide and heating in hydrogen to form the metal as a rough surface. The surface of the molybdenum wire may also be made rough by oxidizing and then reducing the surface metal.
