Abstract

<PICT:0905914/III/1> A condensing plant comprises a housing containing condenser elements through which vapour is adapted to flow downwardly in contact with cooling surfaces in the path of an air stream, a fan for blowing cooling air through the condenser elements, a vapour distributing pipe, and condensate collecting pipes, the condenser elements being supported above ground level and being so arranged as to be horizontally spaced and inclined towards one another upwardly, gable fashion, with the fan disposed below them so as to blow air upwardly through them, the vapour distributing pipe being arranged approximately horizontally along the apex of the gable, the plant being so arranged that the housing completely surrounds the condenser and is provided below the level of the fan with air inlet openings and above the level of the fan with air outlet openings the openings being provided with shutters. In a preferred embodiment in which cooling is effected by the circulation of air, a housing 1 is fitted with shutters 2 in its side walls and shutter 3 in its roof air entering in the direction of arrows X and leaving in the direction Z. Steam distributer pipes 4 are taken up vertically and are then bent over horizontally level with the roof. Condenser elements 8 are connected at the top through steam distributer chambers 9 to steam distributer pipes 4 and at the bottom they are connected through condensate collector chambers 10 and condensate discharge pipes 11 to condensate collecting pipes 12. The latter leads into a main discharge line 13.
