A drying device particularly for fabrics comprises a plurality of blast nozzle boxes arranged above and below the fabric or the like to be dried characterized by means for swinging the boxes collectively around their longitudinal axes. The position of blast boxes 1, 2, 4 to 7, Fig. 2, spaced along the direction of movement of a web of material 3, is movable in unison to alter the angle of flow of a drying medium from the boxes on to the web by a swinging movement imparted by a motor or hand driven worm 8 on a shaft 10 through a wheel 12 meshing with a rack 13 on a rod 14 to which one end of the boxes 1, 4, 5 are attached and the boxes below the web are secured to a rod 16 linked by a tie-rod 15 to the rod 14. Each box is pivotally mounted at the other end by a pin 29, Fig. 4, mounted in a bearing 30. A bifurcated pipe having a fan 32 mounted therein is detachably connected with the union of two boxes disposed one above the other, e.g. boxes 1, 2, and suction boxes 33, 34 are mounted between adjacent pairs of boxes, which suction boxes discharge into the corresponding bifurcated pipe through pipes 35, 36 having heating elements 37, 38 therein.
