Abstract

904,004. Continuous mixing appliances. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Feb. 5, 1959 [Feb. 6, 1958], No. 4203/59. Divided out of 904,003. Class 86. An apparatus for the continuous mixing of liquids under pressure primarily for the production of foamed elastomers comprises a drumshaped stirrer 16 filling a substantial portion of the mixing chamber 10 and having peripheral rods 17 extending nearly to the wells of the mixing chamber, so that the material therein is agitated rapidly with a comparatively slow rate of rotation of the stirrer. The stirrer shaft 18 is sealed by a pressure-tight seal 19, 20. A reactive-hydrogen containing polymer is introduced through inlets 11 and 12; and crosslinking agents, activators and catalysts injected continuously through nozzles 14, 15. The mixture is discharged through the outlet 13 which is fitted with any suitable control valve (not shown).
