Abstract

1369446 Mixing apparatus BAKER PERKINS Ltd 28 March 1972 [29 March 1971 1 Dec 1971] 8095/71 and 55725/71 Heading B1C A cylindrical mixing chamber for foundry sand has a rotary agitator with angularly spaced blade members 5, 6 sweeping the bottom and the cylindrical wall respectively; the member 6 may be attached to a cross-bar which sweeps the roof of the chamber. The members J may be radial as shown, or tangential to the drive shaft, see Fig. 3 (not shown). Both pairs of blade members may be rigid or flexible, e.g. of spring steel. Materials are admitted through a top inlet 3a controlled by a valve 4 and continuously discharged by compressed air supplied through inclined ducts 10 through a bottom outlet 7 spaced approximately 270‹ from the inlet; or the apparatus may be used as a batch mixer. As described mixtures of sand and resin, and sand and catalyst, are metered by a pair (1, Fig. 1, not shown) of screw type mixers, and the final mixture discharged into a blowing chamber (8).
