Abstract

903,168. Valves. WILD & CO. Ltd., A. G. Nov. 25, 1960 [Dec. 11, 1959], No. 42161/59. Class 135. A valve comprises a spindle 18, formed with or carrying an annular rim or lip closure member 28 which forms a circular recess 27 with the spindle. A seat member 23 carries a resilient sealing U-shaped washer 25, and an integral axial extension 26 projects above the washer 25 by an amount such that on closing the valve the rim 28 engages the washer 25 before movement of the spindle is arrested by the extension 26 engaging the spindle base of the recess. With the valve closed, fluid pressure from an inlet 14 acts on the washer 25 to increase the sealing action. The spindle is rotated by a handle 9 and reciprocated by co-operation with a gland nut 19.
