Abstract

902,133. Hot-water boilers. VANDEVELDE, R. N. Dec. 6, 1960 [Feb. 2, 1960], No. 41943/60. Class 64 (1). A water heater comprises three coaxial steel cylinders 1, 2 and 3 defining inner and outer annular spaces 5 and 4 and a central combustion chamber which is closed at its upper end by a removable heat insulated member 9 and open at its lower end and into which a burner 11 projects. The outer space 4 is closed at each end by rings 6 and forms a water chamber with entry and exit ports 7, 8 for cold and hot water respectively, the water being heated by the combustion gases from the central chamber which pass upwardly through space 5, opening 13 of cover 12 and discharge tube 14. Combustion is produced by a burner 11 for solid or liquid fuel projecting through the cylinders into the central chamber, the defining cylinder 3 of which is mounted on brackets 2<SP>1</SP> within cylinder 2 and has an additional inner cylinder 3<SP>1</SP> forming a telescopic structure. The heater is surrounded by a heat insulating layer 18 and is provided with a removable cover 15 and an inspection hole 16 closed by an anti-blast flap 17.
