Abstract
898,552. Respiratory appliances. SVENSKA AKTIEBOLAGET GASACCUMULATOR. Feb. 28, 1961 [May 13, 1960], No. 7271/61. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group XXIX] Breathing-apparatus comprises a chamber 2 for connection to the lungs and an inhalation valve controlled by a membrane 5 responsive to the pressure difference between the chamber and the ambient medium, the valve having a fixed part and a movable part 12, the movable part having a resilient closure 13 mounted thereon and a portion of the movable part abutting the fixed part when the valve is closed. A resilient ring 13 is positioned in a groove in the movable part 12 the ring and portions of the movable part surrounding the ring abutting an end face of a breathable gas inlet tube 3 when the valve is closed by a spring 9. The valve is opened against the spring on inhalation by movement of the membrane 5 which is transmitted by a lever 6 to the valve spindle 10. An exhalation valve 8 is positioned in the membrane. The chamber 2 communicates with a mouthpiece 1. The groove behind the ring 13 communicates through passages with both the upstream and downstream sides of the valve to prevent the ring falling out of the groove when the valve opens.
