Abstract

1280983 Respiratory apparatus SIEBE GORMAN & CO Ltd 1 Aug 1969 [8 Aug 1968] 37903/68 Heading AST In a closed circuit breathing apparatus which includes means for absorbing carbon dioxide, a mouthpiece 5 or a mask (6) is connected to a tubular chamber 1 provided with inhalation and exhalation valves, 11 and 14, to inhalation and exhalation conduits, 2 and 3, respectively, the inhalation valve 11, being secured in an extension 7 of the inhalation conduit which extends within the tubular chamber and located between the mouthpiece 5 or the mask (6) and the exhalation valve 14, so that heat is transferred to it from the exhaled air. The inhalation conduit extension 7, is fixed rigidly by an annular flange 9 and a sleeve 8, in the chamber 1. The sleeve 8 forms an annular chamber 10 around the other end of the extension 7. The inhalation conduit 2 communicates with the extension 7 through the annular chamber 10 in which ice, which may collect in the inhalation conduit, may be trapped before reaching the inhalation valve.
