Abstract

897,965. Hose connectors. HOOVER Ltd. April 22, 1960 [May 8, 1959], No. 15952/59. Class 99(1). A connector 11, Fig. 2, for receiving a rubber hose 10 to a tap (not shown) comprises a tubular body having in its fore a single orifice 35 arranged to direct the whole of the liquid issuing from the tap in a jet downwards into an unobstructed portion of the fore of larger cross-section than the orifice, one or more vents 22, Fig. 3, being provided through the wall of the body below the orifice. As shown, the tubular body consists of interconnected sections 14, 25, 31. The lowermost section 14 comprises a spigot end 17 which engages the hose 10 and funnel-shaped end 18 which is connected by spokes 20 to a co-axial ring,21, the vents 22 being provided between the spokes. The section 25 is in the form of a shroud which at one end, accommodates the ring 21 and at the other end, engages the upper section 31, the latter being formed with an inwardly directed flange 33 for connection to the tap and with a tapered nozzle 36 terminating centrally of the shroud 25 and spaced from the funnel 18 in the orifice 35. Two hoses 10 may be connected at one end to hot and cold water taps and at the other end to a mixing chamber 12, Fig. 4, made of polyethylene and comprising spigots 40 extending into an outer shell 41, the latter providing internal partitions 42, 43 to form a delivery passage 44 to which the fore of each spigot is connected through an aperture 45.
